WHAT CAN ONE PERSON DO?

WHAT DIFFERENCE CAN I MAKE WHEN I AM JUST ONE PERSON?

We admit that’s true. We don’t want to patronise you. There are over 7 billion of us individuals on the planet, apparently – and you’re just ONE of them. Using United Nations statistics, those below the so-called ‘Poverty Line’ are around a quarter of that total – some 1.75 billion people in all. Over 1 billion of those are considered to be in “extreme poverty”, often defined as those living on less than the equivalent of US$1.25 a day.  While it may be pretty tough for some of us, it is probably worst of all for them.

Facing this tsunami of need, it might seem impossible for one person do to make a difference. Unless, of course, you consider that helping to meet the needs of just ONE person would be enough right now. We have made it our job to ‘help a billion people help a billion people’, so if there is just one of you, that’s just fine for now. Leave the rest to us. By all means go beyond helping that one, but make it your ambition to do at least that.
