World Hunger Map

The above link is to the World Food Programme’s global hunger map for 2011. They estimate there are around 1 BILLION undernourished people worldwide. Food constitutes the second layer of the 7 Layer Poverty Model. The WFP also estimates that it costs them around 25 US cents to give a school child a cup of food with enough nutrients for the day. Some NGO’s run food programmes at a fraction of that cost, providing children with a meal a day to get by. The solutions are out there.
